How Do I Put Music On My Website
How do I put music on my website is a question that many people ask. Putting music on a website is not difficult. It is done using html code to embed the music file. One can use html code to give the listener the choice of listening or have the music start playing when the website is visited. A person can use html code to have the player show, or not have the player show. This code is very easy to find on the internet and doesn’t cost anything, just time to type in the code that is necessary to make the action happen.
Several internet business provide the code for a fee. A person just copies and pastes it to their website and they have music. Some of these business also update the code on a regular basis so a person can change songs easily. So, a person can choose to type in the code or pay to copy the code. It is totally dependent on an individual’s time and budget.
But, there are a few things that need to be thought through before one decides to put music on their website that can impact how well a business does. First, copyright laws apply to everyone. A person needs to check and make sure that the music they play on their website is not breaking any copyright regulations when it is played. Most music is copyrighted and a person is not allowed to play it on their website without purchasing a license.
There are many visitors to a site who will not wait for music to load. If a file is over 45 KB it is likely that individuals with slower systems will exit the website before the music starts and the person with that website has lost a potential customer.
The next consideration is that not everyone likes the same music that the owner of the website likes. Unless the website is in a niche market where everyone is listening to the same group, sing the same song, there are going to be customers who leave the site without browsing or buying because they hate the music.
Lastly, is that when a website is interesting, word often gets around. Many people who surf the net at work, do so during their breaks and lunch. This is against the rules, but they do it anyway because no one will know. That is, until they get to the website they’ve been hearing about and music starts coming out of the speaker. Besides being embarrassing and really bad for the employee, the website has lost a customer.

I appreciate what you are trying to encourage us to do, but I don’t “play” any instrument nor compose music and would have to use copyrighted material. I am not interested in getting involved with the law/lawyers etc.
