How to Hide Your Keywords…

I just got a great question from Greg about keywords and I thought I’d share it with you since keywords play an important part in getting your site ranked in the search engines.

Here’s what Greg Asked:

“Can you tell me how it is that when I click on the
-> “View” menu then
-> “Page Source”
only about 1/2 of the websites have their keywords for everyone to see, and the others seem to hide their keywords?”

How can I hide my keywords?

I’m assuming Greg’s referring to the Keyword meta tags here.

Well actually those keywords aren’t REALLY the keywords that the search engines are using when they are ranking your website.

Search engines like google and yahoo etc, actually focus a lot more on the actual keywords that are contained in the content of your pages, in other words the actual content that you visitors are reading rather than the meta tag keywords when ranking your site for keywords.

So basically you can “hide” your keywords by simply leaving them out of the meta tags and making sure you have them as part of the content of the page.
